Title:Main Title: Comparisons of root water uptake with dynamic root distribution in field observations
Description:Abstract: Quantifying the variations of evapotranspiration of plants is essential for accurate estimation of water requirement and efficient water management, with regard to crop production in agronomy. Transpiration coming from plant canopies is closely in relation to the water extracted by plant roots. Modelling root water extraction requires appropriate mathematic description. Though a general agreement in different models is often used to show sound predictions, it doesn’t mean that the simulations and the effect of the environmental factors perform in the same way. Therefore it is necessary to compare the differences of the performances and evaluate the simulations within the same model framework. In this study, we selected Feddes model which is classical and often used for RWU simulations with a stress function, and a physically new macroscopic model based on hydraulic architecture which is developed by Couvreur et al.
