| Description: | Abstract: In this report a short literature overview outlines the major research questions concerning the topic of root growth modeling. Further a detailed comparison between the root growth module of R-SWMS and RootTyp is followed by a brief study about the influence of root and soil hydraulic conductivities on root growth. Different root architectures and root water uptake patterns could be observed for limitations in either soil water availability or root hydraulic conductivity. Directional influence on root growth was strongest in the case of soil water limitation. For further model evaluations and sensitivity studies experiments need to be carried out or available data should be used. The report ends with the description of planned experimental setups and an outlook. |
