Title:Main Title: Spatio-temporal land use patterns for regional (agro-)ecosystem modelling
Description:Abstract: High quality land use data plays a key role for many environmental research topics and is essential for regional (agro )ecosystem modelling. Nowadays, several land use data products from classical land use maps to sophisticated Digital Landscape Models (DLM) are available from official sources. For regional modelling purposes these datasets are rather inappropriate, since they only provide generalised information on agricultural land use classes. In this contribution, the Methodology of the Multi-Data Approach (MDA) is presented which is a combination of multi temporal and multi annual analysis and the integration of additionally available high quality land use information. Through the application of expert knowledge-based production rules in a GIS environment disaggregated land use and crop type information were generated on an annual basis for the years 2007-2009 for the study area of the CRC/TR32. Incorporating the land use information of the three consecutive years, the MDA methodology was adapted to generate a map of the occurring crop rotations of the study area. Our mapping results revealed that the range of the applied crop rotations is much more heterogeneous than expected. This should have enormous impact on regional modeling purposes, where usually only typical crop rotations are taken into account.
